Gosforth Nursery provides full day care and education for children and babies from four months of age from its purpose built premises situated in the grounds of Gosforth School.
The Nursery is open between 7.30am and 5pm throughout the year and provides a flexible approach to meet the individual needs of families accessing our services. We are registered to offer free places for 2, 3 and 4 year old children under the Early Years Education scheme. We accept a wide range of employee childcare vouchers as payment for nursery fees.
We work within the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum with a play based approach to children's learning, planning a range of activities and experiences to help children make progress in all areas of learning and development. We place high importance on the benefits of outdoor play and have excellent outdoor facilities for all ages of children.
Out of school care is also available for children attending Gosforth C of E Primary School. This includes breakfast and after school clubs and holiday club during school holiday periods, offering a wide range of activities. Childcare vouchers can also be used for this service.
The nursery hosts several groups that are open to families in the local community:-
Pre-school music sessions led by music teacher Debbie Collinson are held on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month from 10am – 11am.
Health Visitor drop in sessions run on the 3rd Friday of every month from 9.30am.
The breast feeding group meets weekly on Mondays between 11.30am and 12.30pm, led by the local midwife.
The nursery has received the coveted Cumbria Newspapers Group Award for Early Years settings in Cumbria and achieved an outstanding outcome at Ofsted inspection in May 2014.
